Jrue Holiday Traded to Milwaukee Bucks
Pelicans Receive Steven Adams, Draft Compensation in Deal
November 24, 2020
In a major shakeup of the NBA offseason, the New Orleans Pelicans have traded All-Star point guard Jrue Holiday to the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks sent veteran center Steven Adams and multiple draft picks to New Orleans in exchange for Holiday.
The move gives the Bucks another All-Star to complement reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. Holiday is a proven scorer and playmaker who has made the All-Defensive First Team twice in his career.
For the Pelicans, the trade signals a major rebuild. Adams is a solid center, but he is not the same caliber of player as Holiday. The draft picks received from the Bucks will give New Orleans a chance to add young talent to their roster.
The Bucks have long been considered one of the top contenders in the Eastern Conference. With the addition of Holiday, they are now even more formidable. Holiday gives them a legitimate second star to take the pressure off of Antetokounmpo.
The Pelicans, meanwhile, are in a full-blown rebuild. They have traded away their two best players in Holiday and Anthony Davis in the past year. It will be a long road back to contention for New Orleans, but they have some promising young players to build around.
